One of the most iconic and influential footballers/managers ever to grace the game. Johan Cruyff epitomised the free-flowing, attacking game that we know and love today as well as engineering the best of the Ajax & Barcelona youth academy’s as a manager.
His influence over players and managers in the modern game is incalculable and don’t forget, he could play a bit! To have the most iconic move in football named after you is about as big as a legacy can be.
If he had lifted the World Cup in ’74 he may have been the greatest ever. Coming 2nd in that competition creates an endless debate but what’s clear is that Cruyff has shaped much of the modern game and we all owe him a great debt.
